Code of conduct
Last updated: 23 Oct 2026
Version: 2026-10-23.291a3b9f
A week aboard works when everyone on the yacht, in the marina and ashore can relax and feel safe. This code says what we expect of every guest. It is part of our booking conditions: by booking, the lead guest confirms that every guest has read it and will follow it.
1. Respect, always
Treat your crew, your skipper, other crews, marina staff and the people who live on the coast with respect. Harassment, threats, violence and abuse of any kind are not tolerated, including abuse of anyone for their origin, religion, gender, sexuality, age or disability.
Look after each other. If a guest seems unwell, far too drunk or in danger, tell the skipper straight away.
2. Alcohol
You may drink on board and ashore, responsibly and within local law. Know your limits and respect those of others: nobody is ever pressured to drink.
Alcohol and the sea do not mix. Do not swim, jump in or take the dinghy after drinking. The skipper may stop any activity, or decide not to sail, when drinking makes it unsafe.
You are responsible for your own choices when you drink, as our notice on liability and risk explains.
3. Drugs: zero tolerance
Illegal drugs are not allowed on the yacht, in the marina, at events or anywhere else during the week. They are against the law in every country we sail in, and the penalties can be severe.
A guest found having, using or passing on illegal drugs is removed from the yacht and the week's events, and we may report it to the police.
4. Sexual misconduct: zero tolerance
Any sexual contact needs the clear, freely given consent of everyone involved, for as long as it lasts. Someone who is asleep, very drunk or under pressure cannot give it.
We treat each of these as sexual misconduct: touching anyone in a sexual way without their consent; going on with sexual comments, advances or gestures after someone has said no or shown they are not interested; exposing yourself to anyone who has not agreed to it; taking, sharing or threatening to share intimate images of anyone without their consent, including photos or video of people changing, showering or asleep; and pressuring, tricking or forcing anyone into any sexual act.
A guest who commits sexual misconduct is removed from the yacht and the week's events, and we support anyone affected who wants to go to the police. If something happens to you, or you see it happen, tell the skipper or contact us straight away. [to be set: the phone number guests call during the week.]
5. On the yacht
Follow the skipper's instructions and the safety briefing, and wear a life jacket whenever the skipper asks you to.
Treat the yacht and its equipment with care. Damage is settled from the security deposit held at the marina, as our booking conditions explain.
[to be set: the house rules on board, such as smoking, guests from other yachts and noise at night.]
6. In the marina and ashore
Marinas are shared with other crews and with people who live and work nearby. Keep the noise down, and keep to quiet hours in the marina: [to be set: the time music and noise stop each evening], or earlier where the marina's own rules say so.
Leave beaches, anchorages and harbour towns as you found them: take your rubbish with you, and never throw anything overboard.
Respect local laws and customs, including local rules on dress and on drinking in public.
7. Water safety
Follow the water safety rules in our booking conditions all week, and ask the skipper whenever you are unsure whether it is safe to swim or jump in.
8. When the code is broken
The skipper and our team decide on the spot what is needed to keep everyone safe, and their decision is final. Depending on what happened, that may be a warning, leaving an event, or removal from the yacht and the week's events.
A guest who is removed leaves the yacht and makes their own way home. [to be set: what, if anything, is refunded to them, and who pays for their travel.]
